Our
local travel agent calls to tell us that our planned bus route back to Peru
(Puno) through Copocabana is blocked by local protestors who don’t want the
government to go ahead with a planned bridge over a narrow part of Lake
Titicaca (where we had previously crossed by ferry). We will have to take a bus
to Drozgoadera (sp?) leaving at 7.15am tomorrow and then change buses and we
should arrive in Puno, with luck around 5.00pm local time.
We
spend the rest of today looking around La Paz-which we like. We walk to part of
the old colonial town, Calle Jaen (“Cayey Hein”) and stop for coffee, chocolate
cake and to people-watch. Then we catch an open topped tourist bus for a trip
around the outskirts of La Paz for a couple of hours. It’s fun but we have to
duck the frequent dangling and broken electrical wires which drape through the
seats at the top of the bus as we pass under them.
Oscar
cuts my hair. ($4).
Dinner
at our favorite restaurant (also an Hotel), La Casona. In case you fancy a mid-morning snack this photo is of dried baby Llamas...
