Up
at 6.00am for the taxi to the Puno bus station and the 8.30am bus to
Copocabana-which means we have to cross over into Bolivia. Since Hugo Chavez
decided, some years ago, that capitalism and all things USA were bad he and his
five S. American buddies decided to gang-up and cause trouble. Since Christine
and I are the only American Citizens on the bus we are the only ones that have
to pay the $135/each entrance fee for the joy of entering Bolivia. All the
French, Swedish and many other Europeans enter for free.
Copocabana
is a small hippie place that runs down to and enjoys Lake Titicaca’s shoreline.
It’s supposed to be the highest navigable lake in the world. We are staying at
the Cupula Hotel a short walk from the bus station. A great room overlooking
the lake for $30/night.
