Isla del Sol.
Up
at 7.00am for a quick breakfast of scrambled eggs, bread and jam and coffee.
Then we take our boxed lunches and head down to the boat dock for the two hour
trip to the northern tip of Isla del Sol. It’s a beautiful day and the lake is
very big and grand (much bigger than Tahoe) but we can feel the 4km altitude.
It’s a tough walk since we have to get to the southern tip for the boat
departure back to Copocabana by 3.30pm but it’s all along the ridge line of the
island and there’s lot’s to see and enjoy.
Don’t
use a guide but buy a route ticket when you get off the boat ($5), and don’t
pay the people along the way who tell you that you have buy an extra ticket to
continue on the trail. They look official and have official looking ticket
books, just say no.
There’s
a US State Dept. warning on La Paz since the drivers are on strike and blocking
the roads around La Paz. The bus company has reassured us and we have decided
to try and get to La Paz tomorrow.
